Honda XRE 300 Patent Image Leaked in India

The Honda XRE 300 was recently spied at a Honda dealership in India, suggesting the imminent launch of the dual-sport adventure touring motorcycle. 


According to a report from GaadiWaadi, the Honda XRE 300 has been patented in India. However, Honda Motorcycles & Scooters India (HMSI) has not yet confirmed the official launch of the bike in India. At a recent press conference, HMSI revealed that the company will soon launch two new motorcycles in India, of which, the Honda Africa Twin will be launched first while the other one will be a ‘Fun’ motorcycle. As all reports point towards the Honda XRE 300 Adventure tourer, the bike is expected to be launched in India by the end of this year.

The Honda XRE 300 is currently on sale in the Brazilian market only and once launched in India, it will make for a good competition for the Royal Enfield Himalayan and the upcoming KTM 390 Adventure & BMW G 310 GS. The XRE 300 gets 21-inch 90/90 section front tyre along with 18-inch 120/80 section rear tyre. Dimensionally, the bike gets a wheelbase of 1,417 mm and a huge ground clearance of 259 mm while the seat height is fairly high at 860 mm. Being an adventure tourer, the bike gets a decent fuel tank capacity of 13.8 litres while the bike weighs at 146 kgs for the non ABS variant and 153 Kgs for the ABS variant.

The Honda XRE 300 is underpinned by a semi double cradle chassis. Suspension duties are carried out by telescopic front forks with 245 mm travel and pro-link type rear mono-shock with 225 mm rear suspension travel. Braking responsibilities are handled by 256 mm front disc and 220 mm rear disc while combined ABS is available as an option. The bike gets digital speedometer, luggage mounts on the tail section and an all-aluminium box-type swing arm.

The Honda XRE 300 adventure tourer is powered by a 291.6 cc, single-cylinder, DOHC, air-cooled, fuel-injected petrol that is tuned to pump out 25 BHP of maximum power at 7,500 RPM while developing 27 Nm of peak torque at 6,000 rpm. This engine comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox. In the Brazilian market, the Honda XRE300 is priced in the range of R$ 16,190 (INR 3.32 lakh) to R$ 17,990 (INR 3.69 lakh), ex, showroom. However, the bike will be manufactured locally in India and is expected to be priced under INR 2 lakh in India.
