IP PEOPLE: Coolpad Sues South Korean NPE Pantech in China Over SEP Royalty Rates

Yulong Computer Communication Technology (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Pantech") with Shenzhen Intermediate People's Court for the royalty rates of global standard essential patents (SEPs). This lawsuit is considered a counter-blow to Pantech, which filed a suit against Coolpad with the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas in May 2021, accusing Coolpad's communication products such as mobile referred to as Coolpad) filed a lawsuit against Pantech Corporation (hereinafter phones of infringing its patents.

Instead of responding passively, Coolpad chose to file a counterclaim against Pantech in China. Since the Huawei v. Conversant case, Chinese companies have taken the initiative to defend their legitimate rights and interests, and many seek to file lawsuits for confirmation of royalty rates.
