"On May 5, the first day the Hauge Agreement entered into force in China, a total of 49 Chinese companies filed 108 international applications for designs. As of May 13, that number climbed up to 141. Relevant data are all on the rise, indicating Chinese companies are actively using the Hague system to make plan for their products in global markets and reflecting innovators' serious attention to IP protection and vigor of innovative and creative activities in China. "

"The Marrakech Treaty went into effect in China on May 5, which is another milestone in copyright development and a new starting point for copyright to aide universal welfare of culture. The effectiveness of the Treaty will greatly expand the access of people with visual impairment to cultural products, upgrade their education, further display the warmness and superiority of the socialism with Chinese Characteristics which 'puts people above all and follows a people-centered application'. "

The effectiveness of both the Hague Agreement for the International Registration of Industrial Designs and the Marrakesh Treaty to Facilitate Access to Published Works for Persons Who Are Blind, Visually Impaired or Otherwise Print Disabled means significantly to our economic/social development and indicates China is moving further toward profound participation of global IP governance. In the afternoon of May 16, at a routine CNIPA (China National Intellectual Property Administration) press conference, principals from the CNIPA and the National Copyright Administration of China elaborated the significant meaning of the two international treaties and the fresh changes and developments since their implementation.(Translated from CNIPA Website Chinese Version)
