The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) China office is looking for a full-time intern. If you want to enhance your international perspective and participate in the promotion of INTELLECTUAL property in China, please read the following information carefully.


Location: Beijing;

Contract term: 6 months (renewable based on performance and business requirements);

Working hours: Full-time, five days a week;

Education requirement: graduate degree in intellectual property law or international law or within two years;

Starting and ending date: October 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022;

1. Organizational Context

 (a) Organizational Setting

The WIPO Internship Program provides an opportunity for interns to complement their educational experience and develop their professional skills and competencies through work participation in an international context.  Learning through experience and exposure together with feedback from the intern’s supervisor and colleagues, play a major role in achieving these objectives.  In addition, learning opportunities in the form of structured courses and programs may be provided to the intern during the internship.

This internship is in the WIPO Office in China.

(b) Reporting Lines

The intern will work under the supervision of the Director of the WIPO Office in China.


2. Objectives

During the internship, the intern will:

· Apply substantive knowledge in a practical setting;

· Develop greater knowledge and understanding of WIPO global services and system, WOC’s perspectives and priorities, practices and procedures; and obtain experience in international organization.

· Contribute to WOC’s daily administration, logistics and basic policy paper and email drafting.


3. Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Director, the intern participates in the work of the Office. In particular, the tasks will include the following:

· Provide administrative support for program implementation activities, liaise with organizational units at Headquarters to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, process and follow up on administrative actions.

· Compile and present general information on program and related issues; respond to general information requests and inquiries concerning the activities of WOC and WIPO; process user inquiries received through the Round-the-clock Customer Service and forward more complex issues to Supervisor for follow up.

· Provide administrative and logistical support to seminars, workshops, conferences, symposia and training programs (including preparing budgets, arranging travel, drafting administrative correspondence and preparing relevant documentation).

· Update and maintain the WOC website. And

· Perform other related duties as required.


4. Requirements

Experience (Essential)

· Work/study in fields of IP Law with master’s degree or Master’s degree in public international law

· Knowledge of/ experience with Patents, Trademark or any fields fitting in the broad IP domain.


Experience (Desirable)

· Knowledge of/experience with the Proficient in Word, Excel, Photoshop.

· Demonstrated knowledge sharing and learning

· Experience working in multicultural setting


Language (Essential)

· Excellent written and spoken knowledge of English, with certificate of CET 6 or equivalent certificate.


Language (Desirable) 

· Excellent Chinese writing

6. Eligibility

Category II Internship:

a) Individuals pursuing their first advanced university degree who have completed their coursework, but not the final thesis; or

b) Individuals who have obtained their first advanced university degree and who are pursuing a subsequent university degree; or

c) Individuals who have obtained their most recent advanced university degree less than two years from the date of the internship application.
