Event Background:
Medical device is a multi-disciplinary, knowledge-intensive and capital-intensive high-tech industry. Both product innovation and enterprise development are inseparable from IP protection. With the rapid development of medical device industry in recent years, many IP disputes have emerged. In November 2018, the National Medical Products Administration (former CFDA) published “Special Approval Procedures for Innovative Medical Devices” (NMPA No. 83-2018), which took effect on December 1, 2018. One of conditions for approval of innovative medical devices is that the applicant’s products need to have core technology invention patent in China. Under this policy, patent application and protection will arouse more discussion and attention in medical device industry.
Our event is aimed to providing a networking opportunity for in-house IP counsels with external IP attorney from law firms. During this 2-day event, we will discuss the challenges of medical device IP protection, patent litigation procedures in different countries, IP management experience and IP litigation cases.
