SIPO: China had patent applications available in the countries along “the Belt and Road”, up by 16% year on year

On January 18, Hu Wenhui, SIPO spokesperson released the main work statistics in 2017. China had 5,608 patent applications available in the countries (except China) along the “the Belt and Road”, up by 16.0% year on year, among which China had 2,724 patent applications available in India and 1,354 in Russia, marking a scale-up in patent applications.

It is learned that in 2017, the countries along “the Belt and Road” had 4,319 patent applications, up by 16.8% compared to that in 2016; 41 countries applied patents in China, 4 more than the number in 2016.

In 2017, the cases for patent-related administrative law enforcement totaled 67,000 nationwide, up by 36.3% year on year, among which 28,000 were patent-related dispute cases (including 27,000 cases of patent infringement-related disputes), up by 35.0% year on year; 39,000 cases were targeted at patent counterfeiting, up by 37.2% year on year.

In 2017, the patent pledge financing totaled 72 billion yuan, up by 65% year on year; the pledge projects totaled 4,177, with a year-on-year increase of 60%. In 2017, the Patent Review Committee accepted 34,123 requests for review, with a year-on-year increase of 160%; 4,565 requests for announcement of invalidation, up by 15% year on year.
