SAIC and other 26 government agencies jointly launched the activity to promote consumption

Recently, 27 government agencies including State Administration for Industry and Commerce (SAIC) jointly released the guiding opinions on creating a trustworthy consumption environment to propose the work on improving quality of consumer goods and service, enhancing the protection mechanism of consumers’ rights and interests and strengthening trustworthy consumption in key industries and fields.

The guiding opinions provide the general requirements, basic principles and main targets of such activity to promote trustworthy consumption, and identify the targets by 2020 that the model units in terms of safe consumption will cover the whole nation, the awareness of business operators for good faith and law abiding will be generally enhanced, the quality of consumer goods and service will be improved subsequently, the channel of consumption-based dispute settlement will be further opened up and the key and prominent problems in the consumption field will be effectively solved.

In the guiding opinions, it is proposed to improve the quality of consumer goods and service in an all-round manner, launch the quality improvement action, further enhance the product quality in the production field, the quality of goods in circulation and service in the service field. Efforts are made to improve the protection mechanism of consumers’ rights and interests, establish a system with clear major responsibilities and a system of industrial self-discipline based on self management, a mechanism of social supervision involving multiple parties and an efficient and convenient system of government regulation. Efforts are also made to strengthen the safe consumption promotion in key industries and fields and cover the fields of e-commerce, TV shopping, tourism, food and drug as well as information consumption sectors.
