The first national standard on patent agency service coming into force

Drafted by the State IP Office, All-China Patent Attorneys Association, Jiangsu IP Office and Jiangsu IP Research Center, the Specification for Patent Agency Service was officially enacted and came into force starting from January 1, 2018. This is the first national standard on patent agency service.

The enforcement of the Specification ultimately aims to meet the needs of building a powerful IP country. It is clearly proposed in the “Thirteenth Five-Year Plan” of Development in Patent Agency Industry that, “the patent agency industry should promote specialized, norm-based and international development”. The enforcement of the Specification for Patent Agency Service is to promote the norm-based development of the patent agency industry and provide important support for the implementation of the national strategy for building a IP powerful country.
