If you’ve not yet bought a virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD) your decision on which one to buy is only going to get harder. There are plenty to choose from, Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, PlayStation VR, FOVE 0, Samsung Gear VR and Google’s Daydream View are some of the most noteable, but there’s still others to consider. Today Chinese tech company 3Glasses has introduced its version, the Blubur S1.

Featuring a 2K resolution (2880 x1440 pixels) display, 110° field of view (FoV), built-in headphones and weighting in at 358g, the Bulbur S1 will be aiming for the top-end of the market with a retail price of $449.00 USD.

The Blubur S1 has 24 infrared surface LEDs to ensure accurate positional tracking with the supplied external camera as part of the 3Wand Suite. This suite will also include two positional tracked controllers which have similarities to both HTC Vive and PlayStation VR devices.

Philip Kong, chief operating officer of 3Glasses, said in a statement: “The Blubur S1 is the first of a new line of technologically advanced virtual reality headsets designed for everyday use in work, health care, education and leisure. We want to encourage developers and publishers to embrace the affordable high performance Blubur S1 to help VR go mainstream.”

Content is obviously key to any new hardware coming to market, and so 3Glasses not only has its own store called VR Show, which includes titles such as Mortal Blitz VR, A-10 VR and Totems in Dreamland, it also supports SteamVR (extra plugin required).

3Glasses hasn’t yet announced a release date for Blubur S1, but it’ll be sold through the company’s website.
